Protect Your Time and Energy
Unsurprisingly, I am an evangelist of “Sweating your Assets.” My first reflex in a busy, productive life is to look first at financial ones.
Indeed, covering financial assets (Money, Investments, Real Estate, Entrepreneurship) looks more technical, complex, and … needed. Right?
I truly believe there is a strong demand for financial literacy to escape poverty and achieve Financial Freedom and Wealth.
However, financial assets should be seen as a means to an end.
Too often, while we plan, manage, and hustle, we forget about it.
Maybe it is so because we enjoy the process, aiming for results, meaning, challenge, or impact. That’s ok.
Primo Levi famously stated:
“finding a job that you love corresponds to the best approximation of happiness on earth.”
Still, more often than not, out of need or out of obsession (“…making money is a drug. Not the money itself. The making of the money” – Felix Dennis), we are overwhelmed by the hustle and forget to protect and valorize our most valuable assets, the limited, depletable ones: time, energy, and health.
A wise and healthy approach might envisage an effective wealth mechanism (a mix of money, investing, and entrepreneurship skills) that provides “enough” financial resources to fund and protect our life and well-being (lifestyle and impact).
I am increasingly looking for effective ways to optimise wealth creation and financial freedom, to protect and allocate time and energy where it matters the most, healthily and sustainably, along the lines of Aesop’s Goose and the Golden Egg.
Finding a well-balanced, sustainable approach is critical. You need to protect your time and energy.
The Dalai Lama said it best:
“Man surprised me most about humanity. Because he sacrifices his health to make money, then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health”.
Therefore, I consider the right mix of wealth and well-being the Holy Grail of personal finance and wealth management, knowing that Wealth is invisible to the eye.
